Dear Supporters greetings of peace and Assalamualaikum
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
The Beneficent, the Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.
Keep us on the right path. The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray. Aameen.
One Nation has been blessed this past year in being able to serve thousands of people around the world in particular our Projects in the UK, Syria, Gaza, Yemen Bangladesh, Sudan and India. We hope to continue to grow and provide more projects to support vulnerable individuals and communities in need in the UK and abroad.
Your generous donations last year, enabled us to reach thousands of people who would have otherwise suffered in silence. In particular our monthly food parcels project in Syria where we delivered to the most needy in the refugee camps and also the hard to reach areas such as Lattakia, Homs, Yarmouk, Aleppo, Ghouta and Madaya. One Nation has also sent over 30 containers of valuable and much needed aid to Syria. This project has seen inter-faith grassroots groups, unions and individuals join together UK wide to send vital humanitarian aid, as concerns deepen about the Syrian humanitarian crisis.
We also delivered various projects in Gaza such as supplying the hospitals with medical aid, delivering water tanks, and food parcels. Due to the escalating refugee crisis in Europe, our team also delivered aid to the refugees in Europe and Lesvos and also visited Sudan to assist the refugees who are fleeing Eritrea.
During the December 2015 floods of Cumbria & Hebden bridge, our teams helped out in the relief efforts assisting those in need. Our dedicated volunteers helped the families by cleaning their homes, gardens and driveways and also thanks to your donations, we also provided much needed food, water, cleaning equipment and most importantly, man power that were used to help in further relief efforts. Some of the homes that we saw had been completely ruined and will take months to be habitable again. In one particular case, one of the kitchens had been completely immersed in water which resulted in us completely taking what was left of the kitchen out. It’s truly heartbreaking to see the devastation that the floods have caused but from all of this, yet at the same time, this has truly been a moment that bonded so many people of different colours and faiths together.
These projects have played a significant role in bringing relief to those affected by war and natural disasters.
One Nation have also started the “Food For All” project where we donate grants to various organisations who help the homeless and the needy in the UK by providing them with food, clothing and other necessities. Our trustees and volunteers have also personally taken part in giving out the food and that has made us more committed to providing more projects in the future. Around 5.8 million people in the UK live in ‘deep poverty’, making it hard for them to afford every day essentials, including food. The implications of poverty are vast and as a community, and we feel that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to look after our neighbours in order to build a just, caring and loving society.
Our series of fundraising events across the county this year, were well attended and received. We would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our supporters, donors, well-wishers, our partners and volunteers for their commitment, dedication and hard work throughout this time.
Whilst the conflict continues in Syria, it will remain a main focus for One Nation to deliver its humanitarian aid to the most needy families, widows and orphans. An estimated 6 million Syrians are living as refugees across the region. Many are living in crowded camps but 76% are in urban or rural areas with extremely limited resources where families are struggling to cope. One Nation will endeavour to respond In sha Allah by providing emergency assistance to Syrian families for shelter , clothing, food and medical aid. We also endeavour to address people’s social and emotional needs.
We will continue to provide food parcels to the most needy areas and make available clean water in the camps. We endeavour to set up a bread factory and create projects that are self sustainable to provide jobs for the widows.
By extending our One Nation Widows and Orphans Camps we also intend to assist by running information sessions, organising social activities, and providing psychological social support, particularly to women and children.
We have also advanced our appeal for the crisis in Yemen where the country has been torn apart by conflict for the last two years. More than 6,000 people have died and almost half the country’s residents are malnourished and have no access to clean water. With your Support One Nation will be providing food packs, water and also medical aid to families in Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Aden and Marib.
To start up new projects and look into more ways of how to help the homeless and needy in the UK especially as we are still in austerity measures whereby the third sector is feeling constrained and overburdened by service users who would have normally approached local council run services many of which have faced closure and cutbacks.
The inception of the charity is still fairly new; much organisational development work is required to be undertaken. The internal practices and running of the organisation are still growing and requires capacity support and building. We hope to strengthen our governance, policies and procedures ensuring we are complying with all regulations.
The Trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with Charity Commission guidelines and procedures. As Trustees we endeavour to ensure full traceability and transparency in all our incomings and outgoings and evident that the accounts give a true and fair view of the state of financial affairs of the charity.
The Trustees are required to:
- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
- Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
- Make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
The Trustees confirm that we are responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the financial information. We wish to make a resounding and resonating effort in ensuring accountability remains a top priority in our future plans.
As always, we would like to request your generous and continued support, because your donations are vital in enabling us to take hope to the less fortunate around the world. We look forward to your participation, in helping us to achieve our targets in 2016-2017.
Walaikumusalam, Warahmatullahi, Wabarakatuhu
May peace and mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you
